There's some new stuff here....I have been adding posts that I previous only recorded in my journal in a effort to fill in some blank spots from the past six months...I intend to try to keep up with this little man's comings and goings - if that is possible! Enjoy...

Family Walk...

Well, this guy was all smile to be out walking in the sunshine with the whole family down at Police Point Park today! I think watching his big sister splashing in the ankle deep puddles was really exciting. I just know he was making mental notes for himself one day...

Gettin' Out!

Well,it seems like it had been forever since we got out of the house, even just to the park across the street. It's a little chilly still, but the sun was shining and we were all thrilled to get out and have a little fun! Hooray for not being sick!

So sick...

Awww, we have been a family of germs and misery for the last two weeks. We have hardly left the house for that entire time. Yes, cabin fever and boredom are the enemies of a Mommy caught in the quagmire of sick kids. Poor little Silas seemed to have got the worst of it all. His cough was terrible, liquidy, his nose so blocked with not he could hardly nurse. He seemed to be getting better then he seemed to take a turn for the worse. He had a fever and he was wimpering and moaning in his heartbreaking! I called the health link line that has a nurse on 24 hrs and that put my mind at ease a little bit. His fever wasn't anywhere near high enough to warrant taking him to the hospital. We made it through the night and then the next day I took him to a walk in clinic. The doctor checked his ears and throat and said that he has an infection. She gave me antibiotics but encouraged me to wait 24 hours to see if he could fight off the infection himself. I am pleased to say that today he is feeling much better, breathing has cleared up and his cough and sneezing have subsided a lot, without the antibiotics. Quite the relief. And also a relief is that Mommy has finally had a couple nights of pretty good rest along with some naps, I am shaking off my haggard-mama persona of the past two weeks.

Six Months Old!

Well, what more perfect day could there be for us to celebrate Silas's half year birthday than Family Day. It is absolutely mind blowing to think that this little guy is half a year old already! Time has simply flown by. Everyday Silas seems to have figured out some new thing about the world around him. His little hands and fingers are into and onto everything. It's so funny to see the flexing 'scratching' he does of different surfaces, trying to determine the texture. Also, everything goes into this guy's mouth and I have seen him literally lick furniture, the rug, along with every imaginable object within his grasp. We are actively baby proofing the house....again. Which can be quite the task with Willow around and all her little thingsThe teething seems to be on a bit of a break for the time being as his two little bottom teeth have made their way through. Now he can use these razor-sharp things to gnaw and scrape at pieces of fresh fruit and veggies that I feed him in his mesh feeder. Silas loves all the trappings of human baby, baths, snuggles, but by far and away his most favorite thing in the world (next to Mom and the boob) is his big sister Willow. He watches her with an fascination that borders on obsession. She runs and sings and plays to a riveted audience all the time.
I am sure they both love it. I can see how, even though I may have less time to sit with him and play endlessly as I did with Willow, he is about a thousand times more stimulated by having a very energetic toddler around. This is likely the reason behind his determination and drive to move move move and explore the big, interesting world around him. He still keeps Mom and Dad up throughout the night, but is a great little napper during the daytime, go figure! In true Leo form, when he is happy he shares the biggest smiles and grins with everyone he encounters, and when he is mad or needy - watch out...his roar can be heard in any corner of the house! Silas, little buddy, you are such a bright eyed, beautiful little guy, and such a big joy in our lives. He truly makes our family feel complete. Happy half year, Little Brother! I can't wait to see what the next six months will bring!

Little Valentine...

A special day filled with pancakes, a visit from Grandma, Valentine presents and a day spent with the family! I think out little love bug really liked it!

Silas did a pretty good face plant to day on the carpet onto a wooden puzzle. I saw the whole thing happen. He is just so eager to be moving but he is so little, his coordination just isn't quite there yet. His arms got caught underneath him as he lunged forward right before he nose dived. He got a little split on his lip...I scooped him up because he was screaming, I put him on the boob. That is when I noticed the sight that no Mama is ever happy to see. It wasn't too bad and it stopped right he just has a little swollen lip. It was, however, a warning to me that this whole injury thing is starting already. And although I am looking so forward to spring and summer and fun in the yard, I also know that it means cement and bare knees and lots of risky fun for this little guy who already literally throws himself towards whatever he thinks looks interesting. All this on this his last day of being only 5 months old...lord help us.
